Donate New Items

Many families come to safehaven with nothing more than the clothes on their back.

Our shelters provide survivors a safe place to stay while they are actively hiding from their abusers, and your donations provide all of their daily needs - clothes, medications, toiletries, and more!

Donations can be purchased directly from our Amazon Wishlist, or dropped off at the Arlington Resource Center by making an appointment. We are not currently able to accommodate pick-ups.

How can I support families in emergency shelter?

As you can imagine, many women and children come into our shelters with nothing more than the clothes on their backs. You can ensure that all of the needs of our clients are met by providing:

This includes items like toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo and conditioner (all hair types), body wash, lotion, deodorant, feminine products, lip balm, etc.

Hygiene Products and Toiletries

We accept clothing that is in season for women, teens (male & female), and children in our shelters. While we do accept used clothing, we prioritize new clothing for our families in shelter. After fulfilling current needs, anything left over or out of season will be sent to Berry Good Buys to be resold.

Clothing

During the winter season, pain, cold, and allergy medications are a huge need in our shelters. We stock both adult and children’s medications.

Over-the-counter Medications

Baby Items

This includes new baby bottles, baby soap, baby lotion, diapers and pull-ups, baby wipes, diaper cream, pacifiers, nasal aspirators, baby toys, and more.

Each month we share a list of our biggest needs, which you can find above in our “Current Needs” list or via our Amazon Wish List. This list changes monthly, but any items listed can be put to use year-round. Helpful ongoing needs include new twin XL bedding, new pillows, headphones/earbuds, phone charges (both iPhone and USB-C), shower shoes/flip-flops, towels and washcloths, ear plugs, sleep masks, duffel bags and suitcases, etc. This list is not exhaustive but includes items we consistently need.

Furniture

If you are interested in donating furniture to help families furnish their new home, please email Mia Richter at mrichter@safehaventc.org with pictures of the items you wish to donate. We will check with our Housing Program to see if there is a need and respond to you within a few days to coordinate a drop-off time and location.

We rely on drives to celebrate the seasons with our families all year long! If you are interested in learning more about getting involved or setting up a drive, please contact Mia Richter at mrichter@safehaventc.org
