With the assistance of Fort Worth ISD teachers, the Fort Worth shelter operates its own on-site school.

Transitional Living: SafeLiving

A transitional housing program, SafeLiving is for victims and their children seeking permanent self-sufficiency and independence. Rental assistance is coupled with services such as budgeting, career counseling, legal resources, parenting classes and life skills training.

SafeCounsel: Counseling and Case Management

Master’s level therapists provide professional therapeutic services for adults and children who are now experiencing domestic violence or were previously victimized. Support groups, filial therapy, play therapy, parenting classes and case management are just some of the services available to victims or former victims.

Batterer’s Intervention Program

SafeHaven’s state approved batterer’s intervention and prevention program offers a psycho-educational approach for batterer’s seeking to change their behavior. Each series is 18 weeks and is the only SafeHaven program with fees.

Legal Services

SafeHaven employs family law and immigration attorneys to assist clients through civil proceedings and immigration issues connected to domestic violence. Legal services include procurement of protective orders, child support, child custody and visitation, divorce and filing Crime Victims Compensation.

SafeResponse

Staff and volunteers offer 24/7 crisis intervention to domestic violence victims at hospitals and police departments. They provide crisis de-escalation; information on legal rights and SafeHaven services; assistance working with law enforcement; and applying for protective orders and Crime Victims’ Compensation. Healthcare and law enforcement professionals access this service by contacting SafeHaven’s 24-Hour SafeCall at 1-877-701-SAFE (7233). To order SafeResponse domestic violence screening cards, call 817-535-6462, ext. 119.

Children Can Succeed

SafeHaven offers counseling, play therapy, art therapy, educational tutoring and recreational activities in addition to shelter for child victims of domestic violence. Child clients of our counseling and SafeLiving program also have the opportunity to participate in Camp Heart, a three-day camping experience where children accelerate the healing process and learn how to trust adults and peers again.

Prevention Services

Education heightens awareness of domestic violence and SafeHaven’s services. Age appropriate presentations for elementary, middle, and high school students focus on bullying, red flags for date abuse and characteristics of healthy dating relationships. Training is available for school personnel, the faith community and human resources and mental health professionals. Community presentations can be scheduled for any organization.

SafeCommunities

This community-based systemic approach to violence prevention promotes safe and healthy environments, reducing the likelihood of family violence. Currently in Haltom City and White Settlement, SafeCommunities staff and volunteers help community members identify the causes of domestic violence and create unique action plans to proactively address it
